Right next to a bus stop to go into town if you wanted to. A place to go if you want to escape busy life and just relax

The location was perfect, the living room was really nice. The pizza night and burger night were perfect for meeting new people. I had to work some days and the wifi was good enough for some video calls. I am very sad that i had to leave.

Located within a traditional and historical building in Funchal old town, Santa Maria Hostel is a boutique hostel featuring a vintage-style décor. The location of the hostel is very good and central, the hostel is located in one of the bussiest streets full of restaurants, and just a couple of minutes from the sea. The hostel itself is cozy and the kitchen is suitable for cooking. I also was lucky to meet a lot of cool people there! Christina, the manager of the hostel and the receptionist, was the best, really. She was very friendly and helpful ever since I started my trip there, but she also did everything in one “emergency” situation once my and my friend’s flights were cancelled and we didn’t have a place to stay for the extra four nights. Even though theorically the hostel was fully booked, she manage to find a cancellation and gave us a room. She was trully a very caring and helpful person which I was very happy about! The other person in the hostel’s reception was also very nice.

Featuring a garden, bar and views of sea, Jaca Hostel Funchal is set in Funchal, 800 metres from Almirante Reis Beach. The staff is super nice and accommodated us even though they really didn't need to. Thank you so much again. This is a lovely place in the city center.
