It is very nice getting to stay in a traditional Japanese home. The place is very cozy and you can see how Hide-san and Leek-san put a lot of effort into making the place homey and comfortable. I am very thankful for their hospitality, they introduced me to scenic spots near the place. Their cats are lovely housemates too.

The room was large and clean. Our room was the family room with a decent sized playhouse inside where the kids play and even sleep. The building is old, but has been remodeled and is comfortable. The baked goods in the cafe on the 1st floor are delicious, and the cafe is whimsical and charming. There’s a kid’s playroom at the back of the cafe which was great for us, a group with lots of kids. There are also many ceramic wares by local artists for sale. I’d like to visit when the weather is cooler and explore the neighborhood.

Featuring a shared lounge and a bar, Hotel The Gate Kumamoto is set in Kumamoto, 3.1 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei and 3.3 km from Kumamoto Castle. good location, shower room was wide and clean! There are free toothbrush, sleepwear and so on.
