Owners speak very good English, helped me a lot with planning my trip, super clean, good kitchen and very comfortable common space with a cozy kotatsu

Set in Minami Aso, 32 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, Momiji hostel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge. It is very nice getting to stay in a traditional Japanese home. The place is very cozy and you can see how Hide-san and Leek-san put a lot of effort into making the place homey and comfortable. I am very thankful for their hospitality, they introduced me to scenic spots near the place. Their cats are lovely housemates too.

Set in Tamana, 20 km from Hirayama Hot Spring, HIKE offers air-conditioned accommodation and a shared lounge. Staying at this rebuilt hospital was a highlight of our journey. The atmosphere, materials, and lighting is very beautiful. We got very warmly welcomed and it was a pleasure to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the main floor restaurant. We definitely recommend it to spend some calm relaxing days! They also provide bicycles to discover the beautiful nature around or drive to a nearby onsen place or to the sea.
