Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and funicular railways. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.
At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.
While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of visitable tunnels and even a Graeco-Roman theatre which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!
Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artefacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.
As for accommodation, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city centre apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.
Naples is vibrant and busy with lots of things to do.
Naples is vibrant and busy with lots of things to do. It has excellent public transport which is easy to navigate and runs on time. It’s not a manicured tourist resort but an historic city waiting to be explored.

Naples has a lot to offer, the food and the people are very nice. Beautiful
churches and interesting places to visit. But it is too chaotic with traffic, which can make a person think twice before going. Crossing the road can be a nightmare especially for the elderly as nobody seems to stop on a zebra crossing. Still it is worth a visit and especially the islands close by which can be reached easily by ferry.

Naples is incredible, vibrant and a beautiful and fascinating part of Italy. The Old Town streets were stunning, the Bay of Naples is glorious. Pompeii and Vesuvius are worth exploring. However the constant traffic in the city became unnerving. We walked everywhere and had so many fast moving and loud roads to navigate that we longed for the relative calm of the UK by the end. It didn't detract from our holiday, but gave a moments pause.

Make no mistake, Naples can be a sensory overload for some, but the rewards are many. It is a city that offers good food , great sights, and has a brilliant culture. The street food is delightful and the cafes have great pastries and coffee. Sure the tourist streets are full and some pizzerias suffer from social media over exposure and now have cues to get in , but wander around and find hidden gems, like chicken and roasted potatoes over charcoal in a side alley, artisan gelato in another and you will be well rewarded. There is a general push to update the city, new metro lines, and the development of Piazza Garibaldi into a Galleria connected to the immense and uptown date clean train station is one example. Naples centrale is more like an international airport. Such a change from 5 years ago.

Naples is a city that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. It exudes an irresistible charm and positive vibes. The people are incredibly friendly, and the food is simply outstanding - no matter where you go, you'll always be treated to culinary delights. The prices are reasonable, and nowhere else in Europe can you get such a delicious pizza for 5-6 euros. Football, family, and Maradona are like holy symbols here. I have truly fallen in love with this city.

It’s beautiful historical city but I would recommend to book half of 2 nights max at Naples city and rest of the nights at Sorrento to enjoy the islands trips and amalfi coast is closer from Sorrento.
The room was easy enough to find, look for a small blue sign on the gate post outside where they will meet you on arrival. A short walk to lots of great restaurants and bars, along with amazing shopping.
The breakfast in Italy consists of croissant and coffee - so don’t be expecting anything savoury. This hotel uses a local bar 200 meters away which you take a token to for complimentary coffee and croissant. Tip - just sit down outside they will serve you - show them the voucher when you arrive.
Excellent accommodation with friendly, helpful staff. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
Location is great with easy access to Napoli centrale station and metro. Plenty of food options nearby.
We read plenty of previous reviews about the bad neighbourhood but this was just a typical Naples area (maybe guests had only experienced other parts of Italy previously) - the accommodation is secure in a private building on a main street which is well lit and plenty of people around.
EVERYTHING It was new, clean but the absolute shining star was the staff hospitality! The room was very spacious, as well as the bathroom and the sitting area outside was lovely. The rooms are exactly like I would design. The community kitchenette is well stocked for breakfast, fresh fruit and snacks. I travel for a living and have never been treated better. Daniella is now my favorite person in all of Italy! We extended our stay in Napoli because of this hotel *****
I recently had a short stay at Hotel des Artistes in Naples, Italy, and it was truly a pleasure experience. The hotel is located in a charming and lively neighborhood with easy access to many restaurants, and shops. The best part of our stay was the welcoming staff. The staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and they went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
The building was dated and the lift add to its charm.
We would like to thank Donatello and his beautiful wife for haveing us at there accomadation. They very helpfull, happy and the resort was absolutely fantastic. Also a special thanks to Antonio for his very proffecial service and help.A very special thanks to the Chef your meals were the best we have experienced in Italy. Overall you have made our stay in Naples one we will remember for ever.
PS; don't forget to visit us in Perth AUSTRALIA.
The host is attentive and responsive.
The location is perfect for walking thru Naples' busy narrow streets. To get to the hotel you pass thru an old courtyard and ride an "historic" elevator, and then enter a very modern hotel unit. The contrast is delightful.
The hotel has a terrace off the breakfast room, and the staff serves you at the tables.
We traveled thru italy for 3 weeks, and this was the biggest and most pleasant surprise.
After a tour of Amalfi coast and driving around the crazy roads of Italy, was expecting a small and tough to get to apartment in Naples, was it pleasantly surprised when we arrived to Antonio waiting to help us unload our luggage, valet our rental car, and show us to our high ceiling and modern room. Only stayed in Naples 1 night but would definitely consider a couple more nights at the Hermes hotel in the future
The perfect location if you want to feel the real italian life. Very clean, the host is ready to help with any information. I don't spend too much time in house when I travel. The location of this old Italian apartment is fantastic. Two steps and you are in full Naples life. All Naples attractions are distance to a walk.
Highly recommend, again, for those who really want to visit Italy, not another hotel.
Very clean room and spacious... and very modern as well. The bathroom is spacious and has jet pump!! First one we encountered from all the hotels we've been around Italy. Location is very nice, close to the Napoli Port which was convenient because we came by boat. The staff, Giuseppe was very helpful as well. Gave us very clear instructions on how to get into the property and even let us checkin early.
Fantastic location right in the middle of the shopping strip and near the Spanish quarters. Fantastic restaurants, shopping, Gelato and Pizza all at your doorstep. The hotel was very cute.
I didn't know what to expect from Naples but it was definitely one of my favourite cities in Italy. I'm so glad I made the trip to see it.
Very comfortable, clean and a pretty spacious room for Italy. Decent bathroom, big shower, and well organised overall.
Location is top, easy to get by since Naples’ traffic is mind blowing.
Intimate location with a doorman 24/7, makes it feel safe, no room for extra surprises.
I have stayed here before so I knew the location was great...walking distance to the Port and restaurants and shopping. The breakfast is the best hotel buffet we have had in Italy and the staff are always friendly and helpful!!! I would definitely stay here again!!
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. It is not a safe location. I left and lost my money. I would have been afraid to go outside. I travelled alone around Italy for over two weeks. This is the only place I felt unsafe.
Everything from the owner to the apartment awsome i give 100% to.anyone Who través to naples italy im from miami fl so anyone from the unired states you should not thinl twice about it best in naples
Great small apart hotel! We were there on our first day of Italy honeymoon trip and we’re welcomed great! Also we got top recommendations where to eat a real Napoli Pizza! We enjoyed 😊
We realy enjoyed our stay. Location is amazing! Perfect place to walk around and enjoy Naples streets to feel true Italy. Room was nice and tidy. Also cleaned every day.
The Breakfast was as usual all over Italy Hotels, the view was poor, however the Hotel is in the building that the Funicular Central Station, and taks to central City.
It was close to the station, and the room was very clean and comfortable! I highly recommend staying at this hotel! Thank you for the wonderful time in Italy!
