The wonderful friendly staff, for a solo traveller this is so important. The hotel runs on a small staff but everyone of them made me feel welcome and went beyond to give me advice and suggestions.

We were made so welcome at The Black Swan.. the landlord is a great laugh and the drinks in the bar are really well priced. The guy behind the bar last night was really friendly too. This is a no frills accommodation but it was spacious, comfy and clean…ideal.

Scarborough has something for everyone. The north shore where I stayed is quieter but has the castle at one end and the sealife centre at the other. The miniature railway and park are nearby. The beach is clean and dog friendly ( they are not allowed in high season). The south shore has the amusements, more tourists shops and the pier. There are boat tours you can book here too. There are many museums to visit, one ticket to visit them all. If self catering, many small store and supermarkets are around along with the main town centre where you will find a variety of local artisan shops and restaurants as well as more mainstream ones.

Like many seaside towns Scarborough is run down and dirty it...
Like many seaside towns Scarborough is run down and dirty it attracts many people who are looking for seasonal work but often have social problems making for an unpleasant atmosphere in the streets. There is a virtual plague of Seagulls they are everywhere fighting, squawking among themselves dive bombing in the streets aggressively pinching food, bird droppings adorn all the buildings and the streets. It would not harm the birds to move them by not allowing them to nest on buildings. There is not much to do in the town other than eat, drink and play the penny slots. The shopping is very poor. The beach is very nice and the park also. The water park is currently closed. The outdoor theatre does have very good concerts in the summer and would be the only reason to come back. Dog lovers should love the town but it's not for me.

A beautiful little town with so much to offer, we were booked for only 2 nights but we were so lucky because the weather was very good, I went down to the beach at sunrise and it was so calm and relaxing and not cold at all.
There is so much to see and do but just didn't have time, planning on coming back soon.

It’s never going to have the same clientele or whether of the south of France but what it lacks in the weather it makes up for in the welcoming atmosphere of its people and the beautiful scenery is never going to be replicated anywhere else in Europe.
The only thing that I would recommend to anyone who is interested in opening a restaurant, go for it as it is not over blessed with top quality restaurants in and around the central area of the town.

Our hotel location was on the South side of Scarborough...
Our hotel location was on the South side of Scarborough which we prefer due to being quieter with great walks, Italian Garden area and panoramic views of the harbour town area and beach. The town centre area has plenty of shops, eateries and entertainments but not as preferable. We didn't visit the North bay area but it does feature a great park area to explore. On busy days traffic routes through the town can be tiresome and badly signposted for unfamiliar driving visitors. (without satnav guidance maybe?!) Parking can be problematic so do some homework before booking a location.

I actually really like this place , we went to a small local restaurant called
II Piatto ( I went there the last time I stayed) you may need to book but you will not be disappointed with the food. They also take the taste card so you get 2 for 1 on a main course.
Everything was just great. I have no complaints at all, infact I will be recommending the Norbeck to friends and family , the location and views from the Hotel are unbeatable. The staff where all very helpful and a pleasure to to deal with ,we had entertainment 1 night and that was quite good , and there was a famous entertainer staying there at the same time so you know it must be good , Having stayed in Scarborough many times at many different establishments ,the Norbeck is the best I have stayed at
This is the third time we have stayed at the Grand Hotel - on our first visit a few years ago you could sense the lack of investment - however Britannia Hotels have made a real impact on the overall standing of the hotel - even the wonderful frontage has been cleaned - plus, I personally feel that you would struggle to find better value for money in Scarborough - the Breakfast was great and I have not come across a more powerful shower! - the Reception and Breakfast Team were polite and efficient
Location is secondary to this Hotel.... The Hotel itself should be on a place to go to and enjoy. Having said that: ignore Scarborough. Go to Cayton Beach - half hour walk, 5 mins car from the hotel. Then go to Beverly, Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay .
The Farrier is an experience you should have. One of the best Hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Staff, Food, Rooms: exceptional.
High end Kitchen.
Down to Earth Staffing.
High Value Surroundings.
Perfect.
The single room, although small, was really well designed and had absolutely everything I needed. Very light, nice big window. Decent sized shower and good water pressure. Comfy bed with quality linen. Sky TV . Tea making facilities. Full length mirror with sockets beside it....I've been to 4* hotels that don't think of that! Really friendly staff. As female traveling alone it felt safe. All for £38..... excellent value. Will definitely be back.
If I could give double marks for cleanliness, lovely hosting from Zsuzsanna and all the lovely decor touches of wooden art and pictures (Kevin)..... I would.
A warm welcome, delicious breakfasts and always on hand for the occasional question. The Leeway is perfectly positioned for North Bay/beach (my favourite), and parking was easy too - thanks to the hotel. We had a relaxing stay and would certainly return and recommend to others.
Our 3rd time here, we would never stay anywhere else when we come to Scarborough, it's perfect for my family. They think of everything. Steven, Margaret and their son are all delightful, so friendly and helpful. Ashburton House is firmly in my children's memories, and my son says it's his best holiday. Which makes me laugh as he has been to universal also this year.
We had a lovely time at the Catania, the small double was perfect for our needs and the breakfast was very good and catered well for me as a vegetarian. The hotel is overlooking the bay and a stride from lots of amenities, Peasholme Park and the best chippy in Scarborough. We shall return to lovely Scarborough and the Catania. xxx
We love this hotel, this was our 3rd visit and won’t be our last! Stunning views across Scarborough, so peaceful and we stayed in the beautiful apartment’The Great Escape’ and it truly was.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was the best it could be.
The room felt clean upon arrival, the staff are welcoming, polite and helpful. The spa was great, not over crowded, kept clean and was very relaxing. The breakfast was perfect and served really quickly. To me the hotel is the best in Scarborough and I return to this hotel when staying in Scarborough.
The location was central as the name suggests and it was great for getting around Scarborough. The staff were very friendly and did their best when interacting. The Hotel looks like its in transition and the kitchen was having a refurb and although a little dated it was clean and comfortable.
The hotel is beautiful and in a lovely location not far from Scarborough. It is a very quiet setting in a lovely little village - the grounds are wonderful.
The room was very clean and the bed was comfy.
The staff were all very welcoming and helpful.
Cheap and cheerful
Good value for money at the moment

We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times now,
The rooms are spacious and very clean, the staff are very friendly and courteous and the breakfast is superb.. best hotel in Scarborough by far..
The hotel location is perfect, being in the center of Scarborough, great for exploring the beach and shops on foot.
