Positive: Skyrail and historic train, nature, pool in Cairns, boardwalk, Botanical Gardens (absolute highlight!!!). Don't miss Emerald Creek Ice Creamery - lots of varieties and very yummy! Dundee's restaurant offered outstanding food and an incredible venue with a massive fish tank to look at while dining, it's pricey, but worth it. The Daintree is as exciting as ever. Solar Whisper Croc Cruise was really good. Daytrip to Atherton Tablelands was lovely. Rusty's market is a must! Only downside of Cairns: dining is fairly expensive in general.

We went at the start of the dry season.
We went at the start of the dry season. The weather was very warm but still humid.
Cairns central has great public facilities.
The swimming lagoon is fantastic for all ages and has surf lifesavers in attendance. BBQ cookers all along the Esplanade, excellent playgrounds.
Muddy Waters in particular, the kids went crazy.
Of course you go for the reef trips and the train trip and the Skyrail up to Kuranda village. A lovely day out in beautiful rainforest.
Port Douglas and Mossman are a drive north if you have the time, they are another must see in this scenic part of north Queensland.
A drive up onto the Tablelands opens up a different part of the area. Natural and historical attractions. It's worth the drive.

A worn and sadly lacking site.
A worn and sadly lacking site. It has all the hallmarks of investors who rake in the money but don't spend any money or maintenance and improvements. They could raise their star rating if they cared to invest in renovation., The lady at the front desk was very friendly;y. What a shame she has to represent such a sad venue.

The environment in general is the thing I liked the most.
The environment in general is the thing I liked the most.
There is little opportunity to interact with people outside of those in our circle of the delegation, including the hosts and those slotted in the program, during that trip. I would like to see more people to people interaction.

Excellent location.
Excellent location. You may not need a rented car if you stay in the central location. We stayed here for 5 days. Went to Great Barrier Reef, Green Island, Used the sky rail to go to Kurandra and came back by Scenic Rail. Snorkling at both Green Island and Great Barrier Reef was too good.
Spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation in a great location. It is located just a few minutes walk along the boardwalk from the restaurants, swimming lagoon and other activities in central Cairns. It is not as upmarket as some of the other Cairns hotels but it is excellent value for money and would be great for a family holiday as it has apartments with kitchen facilities and is just across the road from a childrens playground and water play area and a cafe. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
The pillows were extremely comfortable and the bed was comfy also. The Bathtub was Amazing and I Wish I had used it more often. If the Hotel was Closer to the Shops I would have stayed throughout my visit to Cairns but with a back injury walking back and forth was Impossible. The cleaner for my room (Melissa) was very helpful and polite and was a delight to talk with. .....
We enjoyed our stay there. Love the location of hotel, walking distance to the Esplanade, city center and Cairns Central. Had a drink at Arte Wine bar and the staff there were friendly. The King deluxe room we had was lovely, with good views, clean & tidy, a variety of teas & a Nespresso coffee machine and most importantly the bed was firm and comfortable.
Simple hotel but with a nice vibe. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant, which is part of the hotel, is very good and definitely worth a visit.
Not a negative, but in case important to people, the location is about a 20-minute walk from the Esplanade and the more buzzy areas of Cairns.
Location was practically unmatched, amazing rooftop bar and the room was simple, but stylish and comfortable. The hotel was walking distance to pretty much anything worth seeing in Cairns City: the lagoon, Ferris Wheel, local restaurants, the esplanade, the aquarium, the art gallery, and much more.
Communication was very good. the staff were helpful and friendly and and couldn't do enough for us. we realised that they were short staffed and accepted the fact the cleaners will only be attending every 4th day which suited us. the location was great for both the airport and the city of Cairns.
An excellent location. It is within walking distance to the Esplanade and Cairns Private Hospital. I enjoyed the upgrade. Although the motel is showing it age in places, it is clean. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. The full breakfast was excellent value.
The Manager, Peter, was extremely welcoming and made you feel as if you were visiting family and not just staying in a hotel. His easy going, but informative, style made for a pleasant stay in Cairns.
Location is perfect near the Esplanade, restaurants, and reef boats.
Location is excellent for this well priced hotel. Directly opposite the Cairns Lagoon and close to the Night Markets. No parking but ticket parking for 3 hours at a time nearby. Very comfy beds and very clean. Restaurant/Bar on top floor very good too.
The hotel had a great atmosphere with very clean and bright rooms. The pool area was very bustling and spacious and offered many activities. The location of the hotel is one block from the esplanade which allowed us to walk to dinner every night.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the hostel had a fantastic location in the city within a short walking distance to the Esplanade and many of Cairns best attractions. The hostel was also very clean with great facilities.
Location right in the action of Cairns Esplanade with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Apartment great size for a family if 4.
Overall clean and well maintained for an older apartment with update Kitchen and bathrooms.
Beautiful apartment, plenty of space for a family to spread out a bit while enjoying Cairns. The rooftop area was particularly nice for relaxing. A relatively easy walk to shops, the lagoon and the marina.
The location of the Abbott Boutique Hotel, close to the esplanade and other touristic spots of the Cairns CBD, all in walking distance. The hotel is fine for an overnight stay in Cairns CBD.
The location of this hotel is excellent. It is located on the Esplanade of Cairns with parking onsite or on the road at the rear of the hotel. The staff were very friendly.
The bed was so comfortable. Location of the hotel is close to the esplanade, the Cairns Aquarium, and some lovely restaurants. They are all walking distance.
