I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hyatt in Athens, and I must say, my experience was absolutely exceptional. Amidst what could have been a very unpleasant situation, the hotel staff's response was nothing short of sensational.
During my stay, I encountered an unexpected issue, but the way the staff handled it was truly remarkable. Their professionalism and competence shone through as they swiftly and efficiently resolved the matter with grace and poise. It was evident that they were well-trained and dedicated to providing top-notch service to their guests.
In situations like these, where a delicate touch is crucial, the Grand Hyatt in Athens exceeded all expectations. Their adept handling of the situation not only resolved the issue seamlessly but also left me feeling valued and cared for as a guest.
I cannot commend the staff enough for their exceptional performance and the positive impact it had on my overall experience. Without a doubt, I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt in Athens to anyone looking for a truly remarkable stay, where professionalism and impeccable service reign supreme.

I think it was my 6th stay in here. However, this time I had some troubles with reservations, so I had to contact them in advance and they responded quickly. As I came, there were no issues with booking. Also, I asked them if I could check in earlier after a loooong night flight and whenever the room was available, they messaged me.
Overall, I love this place for it’s incredible location, nice view, cleanliness, and terrace on the roof. A bit outdated, but very good value for money. Little fridge, AC.

The central location is good, with a market with fresh produce and shopping facilities nearby. Another advantage is that you have to leave the key at the 24-hour reception when you leave the hotel to avoid losing it. The staff check your personal details on arrival.

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history whilst embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you will find tavernas serving tantalising souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.
A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds downtown.
Changing the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The up-market districts of Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.
Athens contains some of the finest museums in the world such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.
Athens has a good and cheap public transport system.
Athens has a good and cheap public transport system. Single tickets were just 1,20 Euro. You can also walk easily across the city center.
We enjoyed the National Gallery and the Benaki Museum. The National Historical Museum was interesting, presenting the modern history, but beware that most of the displays are only in Greek. Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology was surprisingly interesting, showcasing fantastic inventions made in ancient times. But the museum is small so the inventions don't all get the space they deserve to have.
We went on a three hour long free walking tour with Guru walks (guide Elena). It was a good walk with loads of information.
A local restaurant we can recommend is the family-run (?) Karamanlidika which had simple, but tasty local dishes. We loved the starters "Sahanaki fried cheese with chili and the stuffed wine leaves.
On the other hand we found a hole in the wall restaurant, Avli, which always seemed to have a long queue of guests. We stood in line for 40 minutes for disappointing food and service.

Interesting places to visit - expensive though - and very, very crowded even in May.
Be very careful walking on the polished marble pavements even in the dry - they're like an ice rink.
Plenty of good eating places covering all tastes and pockets.
Lots of graffiti around.
Strong police presence around key tourist sites - but seem more of a deterrent than active.
Plenty of taxis at a reasonable cost.
Many monuments obstructed by scaffolding and cranes (difficult balance between maintenance and obstruction of the amenity).

Athens is a wonderful city.
Athens is a wonderful city. I really enjoyed the balance of history and culture along with modern amenities and cultural experiences. If you're heading to the islands, don't bother with the coastal areas. We had 2 days to explore and felt that it was plenty, but there are plenty of museums and sites that we could've explored had we stayed longer.

Beautiful historic city. Well laid out. People friendly.
Beautiful historic city. Well laid out. People friendly. Lots to see. Was a bit chilly in early May. Beach was a bit rocky and water too cold for swimming, but worth the trip for the scenery alone {hop on hop off bus takes you to a few]. There during Greek Orthodox Easter week/holiday so lines were short, and markets not overcrowded. Lots of walking so wear good shoes and go everywhere!
Was there a week - sick first day with a cold so stayed in and relaxed. Walked around different areas local to where I stayed, Took 2 day Hop on-Hop off bus [all 3 lines] and saw most of athens in a loop, then returned to see the sights that interested me.
Make sure you buy tickets for the Acropolis in advance!! and get there on time. Early morning and late afternoon best times - not too hot and overcrowded.
Just go! Enjoy a historical city full of culture and history!

The most kind, compassionate and friendly people in one of the most stunning countries in the world. AMAZING food and history to devour, plus gorgeous views, quirky neighborhoods to explore, etc. I came to Greece unsure of my expectations but I would go back in a heartbeat. One of the biggest takeaways (besides how fabulous the food was) was how welcoming the Greeks were every place we went. They never made you feel like an annoying tourist (how they do in other countries...).
Still Athens was a fabulous little hotel with an excellent, central location and friendly staff. We were walking distance to all major sights of Athens and our host Alex gave great recommendations for food, drink and activities. Alex also made sure that we were comfortable, well taken care of and always welcomed us with a warm smile. He really made Greece feel close to home. On top of that, the beds were super comfy and the breakfast was filling and good! Would highly recommend this hotel if you are ever in Athens!
Neapolis 1897 was a great place to stay in Exarchia — very cool neighborhood off the beaten tourist! Do your research beforehand if this is your first time in Athens, though. A bit of a walk to the main tourist areas and a very different feel. The hotel is cute and the room was clean and comfortable with helpful staff. The modern bathroom and shower was also much appreciated after two weeks in Greece. And breakfast on the rooftop was a nice way to start the day with something in our stomachs.
Valahouse was perfect, and the hosts were wonderful! Natalia and Evangelos were very warm, welcoming, attentive, and responsive. They went above and beyond to answer our questions. They also left homemade cookies for us that were delicious and a sweet surprise! The accommodations were perfect for us! Uber rides were easy to and from here to Athens and affordable. Super convenient to our son who was studying at Deree (American College of Greece).
10 out of 10 100%!! Never have we stayed in a place where we felt so at home home but still feel that clean and tidy hotel vibes. Breakfast was included so really nice value altogether! We thought Greece would be a one-time trip but we are now planning to come back again just so we can stay in this lovely place. The staff and the owner are extremely helpful!! Very cleaver name, Still Athens - it really is ❤️
We were very glad to have booked Greece U Around. It’s a great (modern, aesthetically pleasing) apartment, great location, and exceptional value, and the manager and housekeeper are instantly responsive (not that we really needed anything, as the apartment is so well-appointed) – just a text or call away. Next time I’m in Athens, I’ll consider myself fortunate if Greece U Around is available.
Omiros Hotel in center of Plaka, near all the attraction you need to visit. This hotel you can reach either by taxi or walking distance from syntagma if you decide to have the shuttle from the airport. Clean Room nice people and the value for money is perfect. The breakfast has no big choice but decent specially you are in Athens and you can enjoy the food all day while walking.
Breakfast is fantastic! freshly pressed orange juice (rarely found even in luxury hotels), exceptionally friendly staff who go out of their way to help), unique design with lots of interesting artworks (in the rooms and hallways) to discover, unbeatable location (a bit loud but we’re in Greece after all)…
in sum, one of the best hotel experiences and highly recommended!
Aris and his team are without doubt the friendliest and most hospitable Hotel operators I have ever met. It felt like home. They greeted us with warmth at all times of the day and were always on hand to share recommendations for Athens and wider around Greece, or to simply chat and enjoy a drink at reception. We met other travellers and enjoyed our stay immeasurably.
Second post covid stay. One night Only between trips to mountains and the islands. Pleasant surprise when bus from Peloponnese dropped us 100m from the hotel. As a base for touring Greece and Athens the Cosmos is ideal. They even have a cold drinks machine in the lobby stocked with beer. Aircon set at 25 degrees which is a bit warm for me as I like to sleep cold
The staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. They spoke very fluent English which was helpful compared to other hotels I stayed at in Greece. The breakfast was excellent especially for me as a bacon and eggs person rather than a granola and fruit eater. The location was in a good area and a short walk from the Acropolis.
The Plaka is close enough to walk to many of the major antiquity sites. It is in the heart of a travellers shopping area with access to laneways of boutique fashion and jewellery shops. Breakfast in the hotel or wander to local cafes. At night venture to the roof bar and drink in the sites of ancient Greece over a cocktail.
Hotel is modern.
Nice lighting.
We had to stay one night while our trip through Greece...
Yet, on the floor above us there was a couple.
They had sex 4 times, each time 15-20 minutes, with a pause of 15 minutes between...
I was very ashame and embarrassed while my wife was extremely curious who was the guy...
The room was great! Probably the best most comfortable bed we slept in in 2 weeks in Greece. The hotel location was very convenient and walkable to everything and right next to the train station line that takes you straight to the airport. Breakfast was excellent and had a view of the Parthenon
We loved this hotel:
The location is tactical for seeing Athens,
The staff at the hotel are really kind, really good breakfast (generous and made with yummy ingredients).
Our room was so beautiful and clean, best one we stayed in in our whole time in Greece. You won't regret booking this place!
Claridge Hotel located in the heart of Athens - capital of Greece- is a very convenient place to stay combining near transportation of all kind (METRO, TRAINS, BUSES, TAXI) with comfort rooms in low hotel rates. Shops, restaurants and archaeological places are in a close distance as well.
Quiet neighborhood while still being close to the airport, Athens, and all the small shops and restaurants of Agia Paraskevi. Close to American College of Greece. Clean, very well appointed and plenty of room to spread out and relax. .
Right next to bus & train station. Upon first ariving to Greece I had no phone connection, so this hotel was very nice because it was so easy to find. Got off train, turned to the left, and it was right there.
The Attalos Hotel is in the best location in Athens to get around and experience a feel for the real Greece. The hotel and rooms are very clean and the staff are very friendly.
