I felt very welcomed by the staff right after I made a booking - they sent me a WhatsApp message and I could reach them any time needed!
As I arrived it felt very peaceful. For me the place had a nice feminine energy to it. For that I thank Lavinia, who worked there evening shifts and was so nice and helpful with anything I needed. She was truly amazing person and highlight of my stay in the hotel :)

Paraty, Brazil, is best navigated on foot due to its small size and pedestrianised historic centre. For longer distances, local buses operate regularly. Cycling is another viable option, with bike rentals available. Taxis are also accessible for convenient travel. Please note, driving is not recommended due to limited parking.
The Historic Centre, or Centro Histórico, is the best area to stay in Paraty, Brazil. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site, brimming with charming colonial architecture, vibrant restaurants, and unique shops. It's also conveniently close to the city's main attractions and the harbour.
Emerald-coloured Forests and Turquoise Waters
Paraty is surrounded by emerald green forests attached to mountains that plummet directly into turquoise waters or white-sand beaches. The cobblestone streets and colonial houses of the city centre pay homage to its Portuguese roots, and accessible islands and secluded beaches lure the sun-seeking crowds.
White buildings decorated with colourful door arches and window surrounds line the small lanes of the historic old town. The 17th-century First Church of Our Lady of the Remedies watches over the shaded eastern meeting point of Matriz Square.
North of the canal are Pontal and Jabaquara beaches that are split by the Perpetual Defender fortress, built by the British in the 18th century. Hiring a boat will take you out to more remote islands like diving hot spot Ilha dos Meros or unspoilt Paraty-Mirim Beach, south of the city.
As part of Brazil’s Costa Verde coast, the nearby Gold Trail and Serra da Bocaina National Park highlight the native Atlantic forest and fauna such as the sloth.
Whether you are seeking a peaceful nature retreat, beachside guest house or city centre hostel, Booking.com has an option for you.
Paraty is a little bit of heaven.
I love the water, the beaches, the islands and the jungle. Hire a boat and explore!
Every night the city is a block party with tables in the street and music spilling out of restaurants.
Don't miss the historical museum.

It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian. A beautiful town with a historic center. The city has various nice restaurants (but usually quite pricy) and shops.
Since it’s not in the mountains, it’s easier to visit than for example ouro preto.

I think 1 or 2 nights is just right.
I think 1 or 2 nights is just right. It is nice to do a layover in Paraty because on the bus ride to and from (Rio/Sao Paulo) you can see quite a bit of the smaller towns and nature. If you did a bus direct from SP to Rio it would stick to the main highways and you wouldn't see as much. Worth a visit if you have time but keep in mind everything will be slightly more expensive as local tourists also like coming here. There are also lots of festivals so depending if you like festivals you could time your trip to coincide with one of them. During my stay there was a gastronomy festival which was pretty cool. They had cooking demonstrations and free samples of stuff.

Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam.
Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam. It is just 4 streets of colonial buildings with arrogant people. It is marketed extremely well as you believe that Paraty is a village of only colonial buildings however to our surprise they have added (obviously quite some time ago) more buildings and a bigger village the new town shall we call it. It is full of homeless people and danger the floor is disgusting and the people are intimidating. The supermarket is poorly built shed with insects everywhere and extremely overpriced. we left a day earlier than planned as we could not wait to escape the hell hole.

Paraty has a very smalll historical area. Unless you want to take a boat trip you can view the area in a couple of hours. The beaches in Paraty itself are not very nice for swimming but outside there are beautiful beaches and areas.

The apartment is in a beautiful location surrounded by rivers and rain forest with interesting plants and animals everywhere. The hosts could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. A perfect place to relax and unwind.
We had the most wonderful stay at Casas do Patio! Centrally and perfectly located for those visiting Paraty for the first time, this Pousada is the epitome of “Good Vibes Only”; whether it was their super smiley, friendly staff, or the colorful and copious breakfast in the garden or the bright and light rooms, we were so so pleased with our stay. P.S. The wifi was pretty good too (for any digital nomads like me). Honestly we were wowed at the value of the stay. You absolutely can’t beat it !
Everything! Very charming hotel boutique.Perched on a hill outside the town of Paraty, with a private beach, infinity pool and a breathtaking view of the ocean. Each room has a different décor, mine was on the second floor with a balcon , ideal for a sunrise lover like myself.Others surrounded by the beautiful Mata Atlântica…The staff is very nice and helpful , a special mention to Raquel , we had a wonderful time.Thank you Casa Luz for a memorable Christmas!🎄🎅
My wife and I spent three nights in this lovely Pousada celebrating our honeymoon. The Pousada is beautifully integrated into its surroundings and has lots of plants which make you feel as if you were in the middle of the jungle. The installations are beautiful and modern. Among other things I’d like to highlight the bar which is very nice to look at, especially in the dark. I very much recommend this Pousada for your stay in Paraty!
Paraty is the town of your dreams, and pousada Valhacouto is 5min walk from the cobblestone streets of the town centre. Really cool atmosphere at night with restaurants and bars at walking distance. Room was basic but good, it wasn't ready when we arriveed but we could leave our luggage locked at reception. It is a traditional building so all the ceilings/windows are wooden.
Everything, lovely setting within the beautiful Paraty. It was an oasis and one of the nicest hotels in the area. Joao, Junior and everyone were so helpful, kind and attentive. The breakfast was delicious (recommend scrambled eggs) and filling, eating it on the terrace with the sun and sounds of Paraty was one to remember! We’d definitely come back again.
The pousada is pretty and comfortable, very clean and close to everything without being too busy or noisy. There is a very nice patio and common area. The staff is wonderful and they all seem to really enjoy their work. Breakfast is spectacular, and the 17:00 tea daily is very nice. I would definitely return on my next trip to Paraty.
I had the best experience in Paraty. The guy from reception helped me a lot to get tour and know the best places around even he doesn't speak English at all!
The stuff are so kind. Couldn't ask for more. Thanks a lot for this experience ☺️
Also the gym and swimming pool are amazing 🤩 I'll definitely get back to this hotel .
The staff at Che Lagarto is super helpful and friendly - to the point that they were helpful to also accommodate some friends of mine who needed a quick shower after some waterfall tracking, with no extra charge. They were keen on connecting people with interests alike during breakfast - special thanks to Nilton for that!
The staff was very friendly, great location for easy walking all over Paraty. They had AC and a ceiling fan, which was ideal during the excessive heat warning and other hot days. Would stay here again and recomend for people looking for an affordable, well located pousada. Obrigada Hospadagem de Val!
We got room 10 on the first floor with a balcony on the garden. A big room with King size bed.
Wonderful.
The Pousada is really beautiful, it has a private parking area very good breakfast and a super kind and friendly Staff.
The position is perfect: 3 minutes walking from the center of Paraty.
Pousada do Principe it’s a very nice place to stay. An oasis of quietude. Close from the center of paraty and two minutes away from the bus station. The staff is kind and helpful. Concerning the breakfast, you will find all you need from fresh juice to tasty pastry and fresh fruits.
The staff was awesome and seemed pleased to help with any of our needs. We felt that they really cared!!
A plus for us was watching horses walking around at the sunrise 🥰
We would return and would refer Pousada ACQUA Marina to our family and friends!!
We had a wonderful time!
Paraty is a beautiful town and Carpe Diem was a beautiful hotel to stay in. The location was perfect. The breakfast was varied and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was large, bed was super comfortable, bathroom was roomy and we had beautiful views!
We stayed at 6 small hotels across Argentina and Brazil, we would recommend all them, Maris was the very best. Spacious room. Ample tasty breakfast. Knowledgable host with plenty of tips to get the most out of Pararty and lovely staff. Great pool and gardens.
Lovely place to say in Paraty! The family were so lovely and helpful during our stay. We don’t speak Portuguese and they went out of their way to help with translations. It was spotlessly clean and they let us store bags ahead of check in.
Loved the location, the cleanliness, the fresh smell of clean linens and room, also the yard smells like flowers and love the breakfast there. The staff was super friendly and next time I come to Paraty I will be staying here again!
Cozy hotel just outside town, easier to have a car here so you can drive into the historic centre and explore all the beaches and other places around Paraty. Friendly owner and amazing breakfast along with comfy rooms. Would return!
There was nothing not to like about the hotel…. beautiful landscapes , breakfast on the outdoor patio with ocean just feet away, very peaceful and quite setting. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well.
